There's still time to book a trip to France this bank holiday weekend. Go on, do something bold and impromptu! You could soon be eating moules frites and sipping local wine in the sunshine.

For a long weekend, B&B or Chambre d'Hote starts at just £30 to £40 per night for a double room in a beautiful old farmhouse, converted watermill, country auberge, a village house or even an elegant chateau.  Some self-catering properties can also be booked for just a few days.

If you fancy getting away for a week, then houses, villas and apartments start at a mere £150 a week, going right up to glorious luxury for couples, families or groups.

This is a great time of year for walking, golf, horse riding, boating, sightseeing, lying on the beach and just sitting at a pavement watching the world go by. Vive la France!
